  A very kind, caring and considerate surgeon who puts your mind at ease from the moment you meet him to the time you get to theatre. I had great faith and trust in Mr Byrne's ability after my initial consultation and my subsequent surgery.
  Repaired my rotator cuff tear along with a few other shoulder issues I was experiencing.

  Worst experience with a doctor I have ever had. Went for a pain procedure for hip was prepped per his notes, wrong side was prepped, CT Guided practitioner had to be asked by me to have him check my file which they did and then prepped the right side.
  When health care practices in this case the specialist becomes so busy or so self assured they begin making mistakes.
  Be careful.

  What a surgeon!
  After a long career racing dirt bikes and multiple surgeries I came to Andrew 3 years ago to have both shoulders reconstructed. Excellent results back to work as a builder 4-6 weeks later.
  Next was my knees. After a few previous acl reconstructions it was time for a total knee replacement. All I can say is thank you so much. After 6 weeks I was back on the tools as a builder ( taking it easy of course). Now to work out a date for the next knee with Andrew as his surgical skills is excellent with great recovery times.

  Mr Andrew Byrne is one of the best Orthopaedic Surgeons I have had the pleasure to meet and to be treated by (and I have seen a few over the years!) He is quite a personable chap and his bedside manner is outstanding.
  He is a 'straight shooter' and tells you exactly what he can and can't do to address your particular issue and, is quite upfront with information regarding the risks involved with the proposed surgery and also the likely outcomes of the surgery.
  I have had both left and right knees totally replaced by Andrew and also a shoulder injury repaired. I can honestly say that without his care prior to the major surgery (arthroscopes on both knees) and then the TKR themselves, I would not be able to walk as well as I can now.
  Mr Byrne is meticulous about infection control and is the conservative sort of surgeon that I needed.
  His supporting doctor, Christian Haidacher, is also outstanding.
  The staff manning his office are friendly, helpful and efficient.
  I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Andrew Byrne to my family and friends.

  I was referred to Mr. Burns for a knee replacement. It was not normal replacement. I was run over as a 2 year old by a truck and it left me very significant vascular issues. I had my first consultation with him nd he explained it needed an expert vascular surgeon to repair the vascular system in my leg before he could replace the knee. He referred me to the best in Geelong, Mr. Acosta. He rang him while I was still in his consulting room. Told me he was the surgeon for me and said if Mr. Acosta could repair the vascular system in my left leg then he ,Mr. Burns was not only the best in Australia but the best in the world. He explained that he had travelled the world teaching other surgeons to do what he does. He has patinated this robotic joint.
  Apparently he designed this joint and taught everyone else how to implant it. If you have seen this man, I do not call him a surgeon, get a second opinion. it took more than one year for Mr. Acosta to complete the test needed to begin his surgery. That is called being thorough. which is something Mr. Burns is not. After Mr. Acosta reviewed with Mr. Burns exactly how the procedure was to progress, he performed his surgery Approximately $15,ooo. later, as well as, 4 days in ICU and nearly 2 weeks in hospital, I went back to see Mr. Burns. I never really spoke to him at this appointment. The reason for this is because he told me he wasn't going to do the follow up surgery. He had more experienced people in Melbourne who were better than him. He then said the worst thing of all. He told me there were better plastics surgeons in Melbourne. Geelong is not the place for these sorts of surgeries. Mr. Acosta is the best there is anywhere. He does the surgeries on the pianists who will never play again unless he is their surgeon. Not only did Mr. Burns refer him, he then tried to tell me Mr. Acosta was not the best there is. This is not true. His peers call him the god of plastics because he can do miracles. Mr. Burns was looking for a way out. I have asked him for an explanation. Why he would arrange this surgery with his referrals and requirements', then say I don't want to do the knee. The worst thing about this is Mr. Burns told me that he had decided after my last appointment, he would not do the knee replacement, and he didn't have faith in the surgeon he had referred. Instead of calling me he waited over a year after the surgery to tell me he had changed his mind.. Who does that? Please do not trust this man. He is a liar. Please if you have had a bad outcome with this man I ask you to contact me. When asked for an explanation his response was "I never told her I would operate". I don't know the medical term for what he has done, in lay mans terms I call him a liar. Please contact me if you have a story to share.
